INDORE: Indian captain Rohit Sharma became the first player in the history of T20I cricket to feature in 150 matches during the second T20I against Afghanistan here on Sunday.
Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most capped T20I player across the globe, followed by Ireland’s Paul Stirling with 134 matches.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is the second-most capped Indian player with 116 matches after Rohit Sharma.
Notably, Sharma and Kohli made their return to the T20I format during the ongoing series after a hiatus of more than a year.
They had not featured in the shortest format for India since their semi-final defeat against England in the T20 World Cup in November 2022.
Both batters are mainstays of the Indian team and sit at the top of the list of highest run-scorers in T20I cricket, with Kohli leading the list by virtue of being the only batter to score 4000 runs in the format.
Meanwhile, Sharma has scored 3853 runs at an average of 31.07 at a strike rate of 139.14, with four centuries and 29 half-centuries since making his T20I debut against England in 2007.
He also holds the record for most centuries (4) and sixes (182) in T20I cricket.
