28 dead in Balochistan’s Washuk bus accident

At least 28 people have lost their lives in a bus accident in Washuk Balochistan, TVs reported on Wednesday. The accident occurred when the Quetta bound bus fell into a ravine, causing injuries to another 20 passengers. 

The tire burst led to the passenger bus fell into the ravine, local officials told media, saying women and children are also among decreased and injured. 

Some of the passengers are in critical condition and were admitted to the local hospital in Basima, the tehsil of Washuk district of the province. 

The bodies and the injured were taken to the hospital where over 22 people succumbed to their injuries, doctors say. The bus, local authorities said, was travelling from Turbat to Balochistan capital Quetta. The accident occurred early morning around 4am, according to reports. 

Emergency services and levies reached the site after hours due to lack of communication services in the areas. 

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has expressed grief over the tragic accident, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and praying for the early recovery of the injured. He directed health authorities to ensure best medical facilities to the injured passengers.
