3 Pakistani schools make global impact, shortlisted for prestigious world awards

In a proud moment for Pakistan’s education sector, three remarkable schools have emerged as Top 10 contenders for the 2025 World’s Best School Prizes, a globally recognized initiative launched by T4 Education to celebrate institutions pushing boundaries in the post-pandemic world.

Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust Higher Secondary School in Lahore, Beaconhouse College Programme (BCP), Juniper Campus in Quetta, and Nordic International School in Lahore have each secured finalist positions across various categories, highlighting their commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and impactful community engagement.

These prizes, which span five categories—Overcoming Adversity, Community Collaboration, Innovation, Environmental Action, and Supporting Healthy Lives—are among the most prestigious accolades in education worldwide. Winners will be selected by an expert panel and also through a global public vote, with results announced in October. Finalists will also convene at the World Schools Summit in Abu Dhabi this November.

Lahore’s Sanjan Nagar: A Beacon for Underprivileged Learners

From humble beginnings in a disused factory with just 10 students, Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust School in Lahore now stands as a powerhouse of inclusive learning. Pioneering the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Primary Years Programme (PYP) for under-resourced communities, the school focuses on an inquiry-driven curriculum that equips students with essential 21st-century skills. With more than 800 students today—most from economically challenged and minority backgrounds—the school emphasizes interfaith harmony, social responsibility, and sustainable development.

Students regularly participate in global initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and have earned international scholarships and exposure opportunities. Teachers too benefit from overseas training, further elevating academic standards and inspiring transformation in the local community. Sanjan Nagar is competing in the “Overcoming Adversity” category.

Quetta’s BCP Juniper Campus: Taking Science to the Streets

In Balochistan’s capital, BCP Juniper Campus is turning science education into a mobile, accessible reality through its Science Gaari—a student-run, fully functional science lab on wheels. With hands-on learning in short supply in many rural schools, this initiative brings real-world experiments directly to students who otherwise lack even basic lab resources.

The project, a collaborative effort with UNICEF, has reached over 150 schools, significantly improving both engagement and academic performance in STEM subjects. With students leading experiments and teachers managing logistics and outreach, this campaign has sparked newfound interest in science careers and teacher innovation in remote communities. BCP is a finalist in the Community Collaboration category.

Nordic International: A Kindness-Driven Approach to Holistic Education

In Lahore, Nordic International School is reshaping traditional education models by weaving parental involvement and a culture of kindness into its core philosophy. Beginning with just five students, the institution now educates 300, with a unique framework that positions parents as key stakeholders in their children’s growth. Learning is shared via an interactive app, regular workshops, and celebratory events such as “Exit Points,” where students showcase academic progress.

A major hallmark of the school is its commitment to emotional wellbeing. Nordic has embedded kindness-focused activities across all age groups, supported by staff and leadership who advocate for empathy as a transformative force. This unique blend of global curriculum and local sensitivity has earned the school its finalist spot in Community Collaboration.

Global Recognition, Local Inspiration

Vikas Pota, founder of T4 Education, praised the Pakistani finalists, stating that amid today’s rapidly changing world—shaped by artificial intelligence, climate instability, and socio-political upheaval—it is schools like these that offer optimism and direction. He emphasized that their work demonstrates how education can be reimagined not only to meet academic needs but also to foster resilience, equity, and innovation.

Pakistan’s representation among the Top 10 in multiple categories reaffirms the nation’s potential to set benchmarks in global education. As voting begins and anticipation builds, these institutions continue to inspire change—both within their walls and far beyond.
