Turkish authorities have arrested by top Daesh terrorist Abu Yasar al-Turki with crucial assistance from Pakistani security agencies.
Abu Yasar al-Turki was allegedly hiding near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border before being apprehended.
He was wanted by Turkey for helping to move militants from Europe to Afghanistan and for his role in terrorist attacks on music performances.
Turkish media called the arrest a serious setback to Daesh’s regional network and commended the collaboration between Turkish and Pakistani intelligence services.
Only a few months have passed since Pakistan detained Mohammad Sharifullah, another senior Daesh commander, in March 2025.
Muhammad Sharifullah also known as Jafar was the master mind behind the Kabul Airport blast.
In 2021, a suicide bombing took place at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul,
during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
After Taliban taking over the Kabul on 15 August, Hamid Karzai International Airport was the only place to flew out of Afghanistan. Hundreds of ISIS K members were escaped from the Jails. Pentagon did warn about the threat of any possible attack and Joe Biden also received reports in anticipation. But it couldn’t get avoided.
The deadly attack killed 182 people including 13 members of the United States military.
At that time President Biden vowed to take revenge and said that “we will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay.”
When the United States withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021, it named Sharifullah as the mastermind of the deadly Abbey Gate explosion.
In a congressional address, former U.S. President Donald Trump officially congratulated Pakistan for that arrest.
These consecutive arrests, according to security analysts, demonstrate Pakistan’s expanding involvement in regional counterterrorism initiatives.
