Arshad Nadeem made history by winning a gold medal for Pakistan after 50 years at the Asian Athletics Championship 2025 held in South Korea.
In the history of Asian Athletics, Pakistan last won a gold medal in this event back in 1973.
Arshad Nadeem is now preparing for another major competition.
During the 1973 event held in the Philippines, Pakistan secured gold medals in javelin throw and the 800-meter race. The 800m gold was won by Mohammad Younis, while the javelin throw gold went to Allah Ditta.
Now at Athletics Championship 2025 Arshad secured the first spot with javelin throw of 86.40m. India’s Yadav remain second with 85. 16 m throw.
With a solid opening throw of 75.64 meters, the top Pakistani javelin thrower began his campaign at the Asian Athletics Championships final.
A fellow Yasir Sultan, a Pakistani athlete and the nation’s second participant in the final, started with a throw of 70.53 meters before making a huge improvement with a remarkable 75.39 meters on his second try.
Arshad, meanwhile, kept up his pace and raised his score with a second throw of 76.60 meters.
Yasir was able to throw 75.50 meters in the third round, which was a little improvement. But it was Arshad who really set the standard, throwing a huge 85.57-meter throw, which was his best to date in the competition.
He surged to the top of the group standings with this strong effort.
Arshad Nadeem outperformed his nearest competitors and became the clear favorite to win the gold medal with that performance, taking the lead on the overall final scoreboard following the third attempt.
