Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Monday hoped for the release of party leader Imran Khan prior to Eid ul Adha.
In an interview with the media persons in the federal capital, Barrister Gohar said it was only natural that the PTI workers questioned the extended detention of the former prime minister.
“We appreciate the sentiments and dedication of our workers. But I ask them to keep calm and trust the procedure. We are trying our best and we have hope in Allah Almighty,” he added.
The PTI chief admitted that the party activists had become tired of almost two years of what he described as “unjust imprisonment” of the party’s founder. “Nobody can imagine the agony of why Imran Khan has been in jail for two years. We have protested, organized sit-ins, and raised our voice in parliament — this struggle continues,” he further stated.
Barrister Gohar confirmed that Imran Khan, having been in jail since 2023 in a chain of judicial cases, is spiritually steadfast. “He prays to Allah, and in each adversity, he turns to Allah for help. We expect Him to make a way for justice,” he said.
He went on to add that the party is also actively requesting court hearings and verdicts to be handed out on merit. “Our lawyers are pushing the cases to the limit. The objective is not just release, but vindication,” he asserted.
When probed regarding internal pressure within the party, Barrister Gohar did confess that PTI workers and PTI sympathizers were becoming increasingly agitated but urged them to remain patient and disciplined.
“Our people have endured a lot over the past two years. But the focus must remain on lawful struggle,” he added.
