A terrifying incident took place in Lahore, when a lion entered a house and attacked a family, injuring three individuals, including two children, sources said.
The police said the attack was reported from a farmhouse in Lahore’s Johar Town. The victims were immediately taken to Jinnah Hospital for treatment.
The two children are reportedly in critical condition as efforts are on to save their lives.
A wildlife squad was sent to the farmhouse, which has been evacuated forthwith, after receiving the news of the lion attack in Lahore.
The police informed that the lion escaped because the enclosure at the farmhouse was left open, resulting in the surprise attack on the people there.
A lion escaped from its enclosure by jumping over a wall and ventured into a street that attacked residents and then ran away, as per the Wildlife department.
The lion belongs to Malik Azam Murtaza, aka Shani. The Punjab Wildlife Department has verified that Murtaza had the lion illegally at his Shah Di Khui Dera.
The department added that special squads of the Punjab Wildlife Department are conducting raids in Shah Di Khui and other areas to catch the lion and arrest its owner. A spokesperson added that proceedings have been underway to get an FIR registered.
The department asserted that having a lion in an unlicensed premise is a non-bailable crime, and one could face up to seven years of jail time and pay a fine of Rs 5 million.
