Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally launched free insulin program, an initiative to distribute free insulin to children under 14 diagnosed with diabetes.
This program, led by the District Health Authority (DHA), ensures easy access to life-saving treatment for young diabetic patients across Punjab.
A day earlier, the chief minister personally visited the homes of young patients in various parts of Lahore accompanied by delivery riders and issued ‘CM Insulin Cards’.
She went to the Q-Block Sabzazar with a rider to pass out insulin cards to young children.
Young patients were provided insulin cards, glucometers, BSR strips and needle boxes.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that she understands the anguish and sufferings of children with diabetes. She highlighted that the government will assist youngsters who are unable to afford medication or insulin.
In the first phase of the Free Insulin Program, insulin will be delivered to 1,500 children’s homes.
This program primarily aims to ease the financial and logistical strain on families raising diabetic children. By offering free insulin and glucometers, the initiative strives to enhance diabetes management for young patients. It also works to decrease hospital visits and guarantee prompt treatment, ultimately fostering healthier lifestyles for children with diabetes.
