On Friday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Islamabad is looking towards peaceful and cooperative relations with Afghanistan, and that Kabul should not allow Indian-backed terrorist proxies to work on its territory.

He argued that Afghanistan is and will remain a brotherly neighbouring Islamic country but it should be responsible and put a check on the activities of destabilizing forces that exist within its borders.
The COAS emphasized the importance of transparent and efficient civil bureaucracy in national development and pointed to the importance of the service-oriented organization of this system to be a necessary part of the state system.
He also stressed the importance of unity of institutions and the inter-understanding of civil and military leadership.
The officers had been during training tightly linked to Pakistan Army outfits in working regions like Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
During his speech, the COAS addressed issues of national security, internal and external threats and the crucial role that the armed forces play to maintain peace and security in the region.
He encouraged the officers to uphold the best standards of integrity, professionalism and patriotism in their service.
He also stressed the significance of inter-institutional cooperation and respecting each other in pursuit of strategic and developmental interests of Pakistan.
The comments of the COAS also emphasized the need to have an effective civil bureaucracy that is able to run state affairs effectively and help develop the nation.
He also believed that such coordination among the civilian and military would enhance the Pakistan stand in international arena.
