During a speech on Friday, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, remarked that Pakistan sought friendly and cooperative relations with Kabul, and he urged Afghanistan to curb Indian-backed terrorist proxies from its soil.
On addressing the participants of the 52nd Common Training Program in Islamabad, Asim highlighted that even though Afghanistan is an Islamic neighbor, it must play responsibly and control adversarial elements present within its borders.
“As long as you deny Fitna al-Hind and Fitna al-Khawarij, India’s terrorist proxies, we do not see any issues,” he said. He added, saying that although Afghanistan is still a ‘brotherly neighboring Islamic country’, it has responsibilities which involve curtailing the influence of hostile forces operating from its territory.
He particularly noted that a country’s development requires civil service; order-based state systems cannot function without their service-based backbone. On military-civil relations, he stressed the need for empathy and institutional coherence between the two leaderships.
The army chief addressed the issues of national security both on a domestic level and externally. He also touched upon the role of military forces in keeping peace and stability within the region. He encouraged his officers to take their responsibilities.
