Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has urged India on Monday to reassess its stance towards Pakistan and the region, emphasizing that New Delhi cannot dictate terms to Islamabad through unilateral actions or aggressive behavior.
Speaking at a ceremony celebrating the Institute of Strategic Studies’ Foundation Day in Islamabad, Dar claimed that Pakistan was responding resolutely and proportionately to India’s repeated attempts to inflame tensions in the area, including false flag operations and border provocations.
In reference to recent tensions brought on by the Pahalgam incident, which he described as a “false drama,” Mr. Dar stated, “India imposed aggression on Pakistan under the guise of a false flag operation, and we responded swiftly and effectively.”
He emphasized that the Indus Waters Treaty could not be unilaterally suspended and warned India against using water as a weapon. “Pakistan is dedicated to preserving its territorial integrity and sovereignty. He claimed that India should finally review its policies.
The deputy premier reaffirmed Pakistan’s position on the conflict in Kashmir, calling it a globally acknowledged matter.
“Permanent peace in the region depends on a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” he stated.
“Pakistan is still dedicated to the idea of peaceful coexistence, while India is flagrantly breaking international law.”
