US President Donald Trump has arrived in Saudi Arabia on his first official visit. As Air Force One crossed Saudi airspace, it was escorted by fighter jets, underlining the significance of the visit.
President Trump was welcomed warmly as he landed at Riyadh Airport. He is to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman later today and will also attend the Gulf Summit.
After his Saudi visit, President Trump will be going to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Central talks on the tour will presumably revolve around Gaza and critical decisions pertaining to Palestine.
CNN indicated, Air Force One landed at 2:49 a.m. F-15 fighter jets escorted Trump into Saudi airspace at 9:49 a.m. local time, boldly displaying diplomatic honor.
Officials laid out a royal purple carpet for the official reception at the Royal Terminal, where Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed Trump.
The two had a traditional coffee ceremony within the terminal before Trump headed to his hotel.
Riyadh streets were flanked with Saudi and American flags, indicative of the ceremonial pomp of the visit. In the afternoon, Trump will participate in a formal arrival ceremony, bilateral meetings, a CEO luncheon, and an agreement signing at the Royal Court.
He is also due to give an address at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, visit the Dir’iyah and At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage sites, and end the day with a state dinner hosted by the crown prince.
