Republican candidate Donald Trump has secured a victory in the US presidential election 2024, standing as the president of the United States.
According to U.S. media Trump has achieved the necessary number of electoral votes. Several states including Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Georgia, Virginia, and the Carolinas took part in polling, electing Trump as the U.S. president.
As per media reports Donald Trump has secured 277 votes, while his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, secured 226 electoral votes. After this achievement Trump is expected to address his voters shortly, while Harris will make a statement later this evening.
Polling results show that Trump’s earned victory in critical battlegrounds such as North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. These states brought out a major turning point in recent elections.
In Senate elections, Republicans are leading with 51 seats to the Democrats’ 43. In the House of Representatives Republicans are also ahead with 183 seats to the Democrats’ 153.
In gubernatorial races, Republicans are leading in 25 states, while Democrats hold an advantage in 22 states.
