ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized the plan for polling stations across the country ahead of the highly anticipated general elections. According to official documents, over 92,000 polling stations will be established to facilitate nationwide voting.
The final polling scheme will be publicly released 15 days prior to the election date, currently set for February 8th. This transparent approach aims to ensure informed participation and address any potential concerns before polling day.
The plan outlines the distribution of polling stations across all four provinces and the federal capital. Punjab, with its larger population and 438 national and provincial assembly seats, will see the highest number of stations at 51,821. Sindh follows with 19,236 stations for its 191 seats.
Balochistan, with its 66 seats, will have 5,015 polling stations, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s 160 seats will be covered by 15,737 stations. Islamabad, with its 3 National Assembly seats, will have 990 polling stations.
This meticulous planning by the ECP aims to provide accessible and efficient voting options for all eligible citizens. The detailed release of the polling scheme well in advance allows voters to familiarize themselves with their nearest polling location and plan their participation accordingly.
With the elections drawing closer, the ECP’s transparent and comprehensive approach to setting up polling stations provides a critical foundation for a smooth and inclusive electoral process. The final polling scheme release in mid-January is eagerly awaited by voters and political parties alike, marking a significant step towards the crucial February 8th vote.
