Over 90,000 sacrificial animals have reached Asia’s largest Cattle-Friendly Market at Northern Bypass, Karachi.
The market is filled with activity as each day’s truckloads of animals reach the place from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh, pouring the marshaling area with camels, cows, bulls, calves, and top breeds of goats.
There is increasing demand for best-class breeds, such as Tapri, Gulabi(pink), Kamori, and Nachi (Dancing) goats from Rajanpur that are drawing visitors and buyers from Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, and Nawabshah.
Furthermore, ‘Kalja Dumba’ (sheep)from Sukkur, Naushahro Feroze, Larkana, and Sargodha are creating huge interest.
For the facilitation of the increasing crowd, the administration of Cattle Market is providing 30 liters of free water per animal per day and reducing parking charges by 50%.
Administrator Faisal Ali said that the authorities have placed Mobicash, Easypaisa, JazzCash ATMs, and various banks within the mandi to facilitate customers.
The colorful food street is another addition to the festive ambiance, which has turned out to be a top attraction for families visiting the venue.
This year’s Cattle Market blends culinary diversity, live performances, and cultural life to transform the market into a celebration ground that doubles the festivity of Eid-ul-Adha.
The cattle men have come from Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Naushero Feroze, and Karachi farmhouses.

Karachi’s Cattle Market Sees Major Shift and Record Sales
Last year, the management of maweshi mandi (principal sacrificial cattle market) arranged on Karachi Northern Bypass created business activity worth Rs8 billion in the Eid ul Adha season.
It is relevant to mention here that authorities used to arrange the old traditional cattle market in the Sohrab Goth area of Karachi, but now they are going to arrange it at the northern bypass in District West.
During the previous year in 2023, sellers brought approximately 700,000 sacrificial animals to the market, out of which buyers purchased 600,000 animals, presenting a ‘record-breaking figure’.
It is pertinent to mention here, the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) stated that people sacrificed 6,360,000 animals during Eid ul Adha in 2023, observing a 28% to 30% decrease in the number of sacrificed animals.
