Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of five special trains for Eid-ul-Adha 2025 to ease travel pressure and ensure safer journeys during the festive rush.
The special trains will run from June 2 to June 4. The first will depart from Karachi Cantt to Lahore at 1 p.m. on June 2. On June 3, one train will travel from Quetta to Peshawar Cantt at 10 a.m., while another will head from Lahore to Karachi Cantt at 5 p.m. That same night, a service from Karachi City to Rawalpindi will depart at 8 p.m. The fifth and final special train will leave Karachi Cantt for Lahore at 8 p.m. on June 4.
Pakistan Railways stated that a combination of newly refurbished coaches and standard Eid special train sets will be used to enhance comfort and safety for passengers.
In addition to the Eid train services, Federal Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced plans to modernize railway stations across the country. The initiative includes the development of contemporary-style restaurants at major stations. These facilities will be managed by professional teams to ensure quality service and will be open to the public throughout the day.
Eid ul Adha in Pakistan is likely to be observed on Friday, June 7, as astronomers anticipate the sighting of the Zilhaj moon on May 28.
Well-known astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi explained that the new moon will not be visible on May 27, as it will be only around 11 hours old by sunset—too early to be seen with the unaided eye.
“By May 28, however,” he noted, “the moon will be over 35 hours old, making it much more likely to be visible throughout the country.”
According to these astronomical predictions, the Islamic month of Zilhaj is expected to commence on May 29, placing Eid ul Adha on June 7, which corresponds to the 10th of Zilhaj.
Eid ul Adha is one of the two major festivals in Islam and honors Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
