Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by 14 days, till 14 October.
This announcement came after trade associations and tax bar groups requested a one-month extension, anticipating a notification following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s approval.
The FBR has issued a formal notification to inform taxpayers of the new deadline. They urge all individuals to file their returns promptly to avoid any penalties or legal issues.
Despite an initial proposal for a 15-day extension, the FBR had previously stated there would be no extension.
However, in the early hours of Tuesday, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial convened an emergency meeting where the board decided to grant the additional 14 days for filing returns.
Taxpayers should complete their submissions before 14 October to ensure compliance with the law and take advantage of the extended deadline.
