Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is likely to change the tax scheme according to the traders’ preferences in the matter of tax collection, the sources close to the development said on Wednesday.
The sources said that  if traders agree, an amendment note could be issued immediately.
The amendment draft, they said, included a proposal to exempt small traders from taxes.
They said that the income tax return form would be issued in simple and easy Urdu language.
On the other hand,   Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal stated that the federal government would not succumb to pressure from traders, and retailers must be brought into the tax net at all costs.
In a statement issued on this matter, Ehsan Afzal emphasized that while the government is open to negotiations, it would not bow down to the pressure from traders. He added that if traders believed the government was making a mistake, they could discuss it further.
He also mentioned that the Prime Minister intended to reorganize the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the retail sector must come under the tax net.
