The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Monday ruled out extension for submitting income tax returns for the fiscal year 2024.
In a notification, the FBR clarified that reports circulating in various media regarding an extension of the income tax return submission deadline are not true.
The statement urged all taxpayers to submit their income tax returns promptly to avoid penalties and fines.
Previously, sources indicated that a one-month extension for submitting income tax returns might be possible due to system overload, which has hindered citizens from filing their returns.
According to FBR sources, only salaried individuals were able to file their tax returns, while those with heavy data or large files are experiencing difficulties in processing.
So far, over 3.5 million individuals have submitted their income tax returns. The deadline set by the FBR for tax return submission is September 30.
