The federal government decided to terminate daily wage employees under the right-sizing plan and has begun the process of laying off these employees, the sources familiar with the development said on Wednesday.
The Establishment Division referred the services of daily wage employees to a surplus pool effective from September 30, 2024. A formal notification regarding this was also issued.
The notification stated that in accordance with government directives and the right-sizing policy, all daily wage employees were informed. Therefore, all daily wage employees were advised that their services would no longer be required by the Establishment Division after September 30, 2024.
Sources in the Ministry of Finance said that other ministries and divisions would also decide on terminating their daily wage employees and would issue notifications accordingly.
