Field Marshal Asim Munir would meet United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday as it has been an official visit of Pakistan to the United States, security officials revealed.
According to the official released publication by Trump on his public agenda, the lunch meeting between Trump and Pakistan’s Asim Munir is scheduled to take place at 10pm Pakistan Standard Time today in the White House Cabinet Room.
Such a profile contact comes at a time when the country has already seen a U.S. tour by the army chief in which he addressed Pakistanis in the diaspora in Washington, D.C., a day ago.
ISPR reported that General Munir congratulated the overseas Pakistani community as they made way towards great contributions to Pakistan through remittance money, foreign investments and have brought pride to Pakistan in many aspects.
The visit of the army chief is very significant with regards to the interest of the Trump administration who earlier brought about a cease fire between Pakistan and India.
This Pak-India escalation started last month after Pahalgam incident occurred in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. As the unsettling incident unfolded, Indian government put the responsibility of the incident on Pakistan without providing any proof.
Later the 87 hour war between the two nuclear states saw inter-country attack by both of the countries and saw the martyrdom of 40 civilians and 113 military personnel in Pakistan.
Countering Indian aggression, Pakistan had carried out operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos during which they shot down six Indian fighter aircrafts including three Rafales.
The hostilities ended on May 10 when a ceasefire was reached through United States. Other than the involvement in brokering the ceasefire, Trump has also volunteered to negotiate over the Kashmir conflict between India and Pakistan which has been going on since ever.
