Renowned Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal, celebrated for his roles in classic television dramas like Waris, Manchalay Ka Sauda, and Pyare Afzal, recently revealed a significant shift in his life.
After being diagnosed with cancer in December 2022, Jamal chose to live in isolation upon recovery, opting to distance himself from his family to spare them the potential burden of his condition.
Speaking to YouTuber Ambreen Fatima, Jamal shared, “I chose to leave my family after my recovery because I didn’t want them to suffer due to my condition.†He expressed that his choice was one of empathy, aiming to allow his children, now settled in their own lives, to find peace without worrying about him.
He explained that he does not want to be a burden, adding that he believes his family has found tranquility in his absence.
He further revealed that he remains unshaken by his professional challenges, including an ongoing ban from Hum TV following comments he made regarding the acting industry. “Hum TV or anyone else is not the provider for mankind. Allah is the one who grants sustenance,†Jamal affirmed.
Amidst this personal journey, Jamal’s family has come forward with their side of the story.
His son, actor Hamza Firdous, disclosed that his mother and Jamal’s wife have recently filed for divorce after 35 years of marriage.
In a heartfelt video, Hamza said, “No woman desires a divorce after 35 years of marriage.†He described the hardships his mother faced, highlighting her hopes for change that, according to him, never materialized.
Hamza discussed his father’s habits and the emotional strain they brought to the family. He expressed frustration at what he feels is an incomplete narrative from his father, emphasizing that the family played a critical role in his care during his cancer battle.
Hamza explained that he and his siblings provided financial support and took turns caring for Jamal in the hospital, with one brother contributing funds and a sister assisting in his day-to-day needs.
He recalled a particularly distressing moment during Jamal’s treatment when he fainted upon seeing his father’s wounds.
