First AI/EV Int’l Expo 2023 Pakistan begins at University of Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman inaugurated the first AI/EV International Expo 2023 Pakistan organized by the Integrated Engineering Center of Excellence (IECE) at the University of Lahore (UoL).

Deputy Chairman University of Lahore Uzair Rauf, Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr Nasir Jamal, Rector Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Pro-Rector Academics Nasir Mehmood, Principal University College of Medicine Prof. Dr. Mehwish Arooj, Senior Journalist Wasif Nagi, Dr. Zahid Parvez, Dr. Kazim, Dr Azhar Khan, CEOs and representatives of domestic and foreign companies participated in the inaugural ceremony.

While speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that Pakistan’s economy was ranked 24th in 2018 which had now moved to 47th in 2022-23, due to “what he described” as bad governance. “Between 2013 and 2018, the country’s economy was excellent and the stock exchange was making new records, but later the country’s economy was put in reverse gear”, he claimed, adding that the previous government also reduced the funding of universities by 50 percent.

We are currently the only country in the world where more than 20 million children are out of school. We paid special attention to missing facilities in our previous tenure.

Caretaker provincial health minister Dr. Jamal Nasir while addressing said that the government has started promoting electric bikes to control smog. We will give electric bikes to the employees in various sectors and have started providing loans in easy installments to the young generation. There is a loss of 1770 billion dollars annually. Due to polluted water, 80% of diseases are spreading.

Dr. Azar Khan and Dr Ali Hussain, Professor of Automotive Center, UET, also addressed the ceremony.

At the international expo, companies such as New Asia Vehicles, Zip Technology, Favorable, Vallectra, Benobletech, Tesla Industry, Climate Action, MG, Alera UK, Concedra Canada and Sahar Group, among others, set up stalls and showcased their electric vehicles, motorcycles, autos, etc. The rickshaw was presented at the exhibition.
