The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 not only has been providing the nail-biting cricketing action but also has been giving tribute with a heart to the nation’s defenders.
During the recent match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday, organizers held a special function to pay tribute to the gallant armed forces of Pakistan as the competition resumed after a break due to the India-Pakistan conflict.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declared that the current year’s PSL is in tribute to the courageous men and women of the Pakistan armed forces. The initiative involved dedicating Saturday to the Pakistan Army, while Sunday and Monday were for the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force, respectively.
The stadium echoed with patriotic fervor as Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and ISPR DG Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry honored the moment. A minute silence was noticed in respect of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the defense of the homeland during the recent armed encounter with India.
Poignant musical performances visibly moved the audience, particularly Asrar Shah’s rendition of ‘Main Pakistan Hoon’ and Sahir Ali Bagga’s soulful tribute, which resonated throughout the stadium.
The crowd complemented the patriotic environment by waving hundreds of Pakistani flags, filling the grounds with a wave of green and white. They commemorated the sacrifices and bravery of the nation’s forces with deafening shouts of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Pak Army Zindabad’ that resounded in the air.
The night ended in a resplendent display of fireworks, lighting the Rawalpindi sky celebrating the Pakistan spirit and its armed protectors.
