Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has dedicated his recent gold medal win at the Asian Athletics Championship in Gumi, South Korea, to the people of Pakistan, saying his success is a result of the nation’s prayers and Allah Almighty’s blessings.
In an exclusive interview with media following his 86.40-metre throw that clinched the top spot, Arshad said: “In any sport, hard work is necessary. But it is Allah Almighty who ultimately gives success.”
The Olympic medalist, who returned to international competition for the first time since his record-breaking throw at the Paris 2024 Olympics, credited the Punjab Sports Board and the national coaching staff for their unwavering support.
“I will give the credit for this success to the entire Pakistani nation. I am grateful to the entire nation for their prayers and support. No matter how much I thank Allah Almighty, it will never be enough,” he said.
Furthermore, speaking to the country’s youth, the 28-year-old athlete urged young Pakistanis to remain committed to hard work and perseverance. “My message to the youth is simple — work hard, and Allah will support you,” he said.
Arshad said he now sets his sights on the upcoming World Athletics Championship in September and hopes the nation will continue to support him.
“This was my first event after the Paris Olympics, and I feel humbled that Allah Almighty has once again honored Pakistan through my performance. My goal now is to prepare well for the World Championship,” he said.
The Mian Channu-born javelin thrower, who has consistently made Pakistan proud on the world stage, concluded his message by saying: “I congratulate the entire nation on this victory.”
