Gujarat factory explosion leaves 18 dead, 5 wounded

Gujarat: An explosion took place in Gujarat state, India Tuesday killed at least 18 people and left five others with injuries.

The strong explosion started a fire, which caused the roof to collapse.

The hurt are now being tended in jumped up government hospitals in Dies and Palanpur.

Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, has promised financial help to the victims: INR 4 lakh for the deceased families and INR 50,000 for those hurt.

Undercover probes have shown that the factory, located in Deesa GIDC and owned by Deepak Traders, was running without Banaskantha Police or PESO approval.

According to Banaskantha Superintendent of Police (SP) Akshayraj Makwana, The unit mostly served as a firecracker storage site that also served products to five retail stores.

Information about the company

Notwithstanding the company’s recent license renewal application, officials had denied permission because of grave fire safety issues.

Operations went on despite lacking approval from the SubDivisional Magistrate (SDM), eventually causing the tragedy.

The explosives chief controller for Vadodara Circle, P Seeniraj, verified the company had no permission to hold fireworks.

Many of the dead employees were from Madhya Pradesh.

Communicating sympathy, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav called the occurrence “heart breaking” assured complete support to the families of the victims.

Madhya Pradesh government is very closely linked with Gujarat officials about the catastrophe, he said.

Offering his heartfelt sympathy on social media as well, Bhupendra Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, noted he is constantly in touch with the administration to coordinate medical, recovery, and rescue actions.

SP Makwana verifies that five police units have been established to look into the subject; there is a big law enforcement sweep ongoing.

Teams sent to Rajasthan, Ahmedabad, and Sabarkantha are trying to apprehend the guilty parties.

Lasting over seven hours, the recovery efforts included firefighting teams from Deesa, Palanpur, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).

GsFPS officials said Dixit Patel, the Regional Fire Officer (RFO) of the Gandhinagar Region, is evaluating the circumstances and might seek more help if required. He has still to offer a formal declaration, though.
