Pakistani actor and public figure Hamza Ali Abbasi, known for his impressive roles in hit drama serials like Pyare Afzal, Mann Mayal, Alif, and the recent Jaan e Jahan, has once again drawn public attention—this time not for a role but for setting the record straight on his earlier decision to take a break from acting.
While appearing on Mansoor Ali Khan’s podcast, Hamza spoke candidly about the widespread assumption that he had permanently exited the entertainment industry. Clarifying the timeline, he explained that he never officially stepped away for good. “I had simply expressed the need for a pause,” he said, stressing that his intention was misrepresented across media platforms.
The actor, who also has a significant social media presence and is often vocal about his Islamic journey, shared that he had traveled to Dallas to gain religious insight under the guidance of Islamic scholar Javed Ahmad Ghamidi. According to him, the confusion arose when selective clips from his video message were circulated without context, leading to premature headlines suggesting his complete withdrawal from showbiz.
Hamza expressed disappointment over the industry’s binary thinking, where religion and entertainment are seen as mutually exclusive. He reiterated that his exploration of faith was never meant to signal an end to his acting career but was part of his personal evolution.
Aside from his acclaimed television work, Hamza has also appeared in major films such as Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, The Legend of Maula Jatt, and Umro Ayyar. With his recent comeback in Jaan e Jahan, it’s evident that his artistic journey continues alongside his spiritual one.
