Has Pakistan returned Shivani Singh?
TwitterFacebook

In the aftermath of a bilateral prisoner handover between Pakistan and India, unfounded online chatter has reignited claims about a supposed covert repatriation of Indian Air Force officer Shivani Singh. These assertions, lacking any verifiable evidence, have been officially denied by both countries.

Social media platforms were abuzz with suggestions that Squadron Leader Shivani Singh had been apprehended by Pakistani forces and was discreetly returned to India under foreign diplomatic pressure. However, these reports have been firmly rebutted.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Choudhry, Director General of Pakistan’s military media wing, ISPR, addressed the matter during a press conference on May 11, clearly stating that no female Indian pilot was in Pakistan’s custody.

Meanwhile, Indian authorities have also dismissed the viral rumors circulating across digital platforms. Despite this, pockets of skepticism remain among social media users in Pakistan, with some continuing to speculate without presenting any substantiated proof.

The prisoner exchange that took place today involved just one individual from each side. Pakistan released Indian Border Security Force constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been detained since April 23, while India freed Abdullah, a member of the Punjab Rangers.

According to an official statement from the BSF, Shaw was handed over around 10:30 am via the Joint Check Post at Attari, Amritsar.
