Early Sunday morning, Lahore and its surrounding areas experienced a heavy monsoon downpour, causing significant flooding in low-lying regions and power outages.
Various parts of Lahore, including Shimla Pahari, Lakshmi Chowk, Abbot Road, Canal Road, Qartaba Chowk, Davies Road, Upper Mall, and other neighborhoods, were hit by the rain.
This rainfall brought some relief to residents suffering from the heat, but it also led to electricity disruptions as numerous feeders from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) failed, leaving many parts of the city without power.
The heavy rain inundated roads and streets in Lahore, making it difficult for motorists to navigate and carry out their daily activities.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast additional rain in Lahore over the next 24 hours and across the country through Wednesday.
The PMD cautioned that these rains could lead to flash floods, urban flooding, and landslides in susceptible areas.
In response, the district administration has issued an alert and instructed rescue teams to remain prepared for any emergencies.
