The Pakistan Army has elevated a female officer from the minority Christian community to the rank of brigadier in a first.
In Pakistani history, Helen Mary Roberts, an Army Medical Corps officer, is the first one-star officer from a minority community.
The Selection Board advanced a number of officers, including Brigadier Roberts, to the rank of full colonel and brigadier.
Last year, at a Christmas celebration held at Christ Church in Rawalpindi, General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, praised the contribution of the Christian community to Pakistan’s progress.
The head of the army had also praised the community’s efforts to advance national defense, high-quality healthcare, philanthropy, and education.
In order to realize Quaid’s vision of a progressive and unified Pakistan, COAS Munir emphasized the value of promoting religious harmony and expressed his deep admiration for the Christian community.
In the meanwhile, Roberts received congratulations from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on her elevation to the rank of brigadier in the Army Medical Corps.
