Drama serial Humraaz is facing backlash as the viewers are raising questions over the weak storytelling and plot loopholes of the drama.
Farooq Rind, who earlier received plaudits for his blockbuster Hum TV serial Ishq Murshid, directs Geo TV’s high-budget drama series Humraaz. Misbah Nosheen wrote the script while Asad Qureshi and Abdullah Kadwani produced the show under the banner 7th Sky Entertainment. The drama’s lead actors are Ayeza Khan, Zahid Ahmed, Amna Ilyas and Feroze Khan.
So far, Geo TV has aired nine episodes of Humraaz. In the most recent developments, the character Sara (played by Ayeza Khan) is being investigated for the alleged murder of Faraz, Saim’s older brother.
Despite the star-studded ensemble, viewers are dissatisfied with the script and storytelling.
Many people say the show has narrative difficulties and inconsistencies. A viewer commented, “How absurd is the plot?” They devised a murder mystery based solely on similar names, and the police are shown to be grossly misinformed.”
Another viewer commented, “In a true crime case, police would instantly investigate the university campus, yet they haven’t even gone to the crime scene. It appears that the audience is being taken for a ride.”
Critics have also pointed out poor character development. “Laiba Khan’s potential has been wasted, Ayeza Khan has been given a clichéd innocent girl role, Feroze Khan is entirely negative, and Sara 2’s family storyline is unnecessary.” One viewer deemed the character Samiya meaningless and said, “If Faraz truly loved Sara, why was he traveling abroad with Samiya?”
Despite the buzz, Humraaz has yet to surprise spectators who expected considerably more from its talented cast and production crew.
