Different claims are emerging on the deaths of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers during the protests in Islamabad. Currently, there is a clear disagreement on the number of deaths even within the PTI party itself.
The PTI leader Latif Khosa claimed the highest number of deaths. He said that 278 workers were killed during the protests.
Whereas, another PTI leader, Salman Akram Raja, said that 20 workers lost their lives.
The British newspaper Guardian published a news report on PTI deaths on Wednesday night, saying that a total of 17 people were killed. The newspaper also claimed that the government has taken over the records of hospitals.
Some Youtubers supporting PTI claimed that 105 people were killed.
On the other hand, some journalists in Islamabad reported that 8 people had been killed, including four security personnel.
Furthermore, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders, protestors, and workers are booked in 8 cases in Islamabad.
Renowned human rights activist and anchorperson Muniza Jahangir confirmed the deaths of two protesters by visiting hospitals and also gave their names.
Previously, PTI convoys managed to reach Islamabad’s D-Chowk despite tight security, barricades, and tear gas shelling by police, rangers, and military officials on Tuesday.
The convoy started their journey from Peshawar to the federal capital Islamabad, under the lead of former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur.
