Indian batsman dies of heart attack, video went viral
TwitterFacebook

In a tragic incident in Indian Punjab, a local Indian batsman collapsed and died on the field after suffering a heart attack during a match in Ferozepur on Sunday.

The shocking moment was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media. The player, identified as Harjeet Singh, had just hit a powerful six and was celebrating the shot with his batting partner when he suddenly clutched his chest and fell to the ground.

The match was being played at the DAV School ground as part of a local cricket tournament. The footage shows Singh smiling and turning to his partner at the non-striker’s end before collapsing unexpectedly on the pitch.

Players from both teams rushed to help and attempted to revive him, with CPR being administered on the spot. Despite their efforts, Harjeet Singh could not be resuscitated. Medical personnel later confirmed he had suffered a fatal heart attack.

This heartbreaking incident mirrors a similar case from 2024 in Pune, where 35-year-old Imran Patel collapsed and died after experiencing chest pain during a match at Gahunje Stadium.

Health experts have raised concerns over the growing number of heart-related fatalities among young athletes. Factors such as intense physical activity, heat, dehydration, and undiagnosed heart conditions are believed to contribute to the increasing risk.
