Indian Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor has criticized Donald Trump while speaking in the United States on Monday, describing him as a leader lacking political foresight and intellectual depth.
According to Tharoor, Trump lacks the maturity and knowledge that one would expect from someone in such a prominent position.
Tharoor is currently leading the diplomatic delegation to present Indian narrative to the world on post Pahalgam Pak-India conflict.
However, his recent remarks about President Trump while he is addressing a sitting in US has sparked the debate.
Speaking about his own experiences, Tharoor said he has had the opportunity to meet four or five American presidents over the years, including Bill Clinton, George W. Bush Sr. and Jr., and Barack Obama for a brief visit.
He emphasized that each of those leaders had a distinct class, a distinct political perspective, and a sense of statesmanship, characterizing his discussions with them as enlightening.
Tharoor made it clear that his comments were not driven by politics, pointing out that he had conversations with both Democratic and Republican presidents.
“They all had a degree of influence, intellectual gravitas, and maturity that is clearly absent in Donald Trump,” he stated.
Tharoor claims that Trump lacks the leadership attributes that set his predecessors apart.
