Tensions in the Middle East escalated as Iran’s newly appointed Army Chief, Major General Mousavi, made a forceful warning to Israel and confirmed new ballistic missile attacks on Israeli cities.
In his initial public comment as president, Major General Mousavi said the previous acts were threats and that actual attacks are now underway.
In a video message posted by Iran’s state-run Fars News Agency, Mousavi urged Israeli citizens to immediately evacuate major cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa to protect their lives.
“The nation stands united and ready to retaliate forcefully against the enemy,” Mousavi declared.
“We will do anything to defend our country.”
He went on to promise that Iran would seek revenge for each drop of blood spilled by its martyrs and indicated that the nation will fully hold the “Zionist regime” responsible.
This is the first public appearance of Major General Mousavi since he was appointed to lead Iran’s military. His declaration is indicative of Iran’s increasing preparedness for conflict, particularly after reports of fresh ballistic missiles fired at Israeli targets.
With regional tensions escalating higher by the day, the international community closely observes the situation for indications of further escalation or possible diplomatic efforts.
Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly deployed advanced missile system in latest attack on Israel amid Iran’s central Bank Sepah cyberattack.
The new missile successfully breached sophisticated air defense systems, including those backed by the United States, and hit a crucial Israeli security and intelligence facility, Iran’s Defense Ministry spokesperson, Brig Gen Reza Talaee Nik, told state television on Tuesday.
One aspect of the military’s power and evidence of its superior intelligence capabilities is the IRGC’s operation today.
