Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of his war cabinet have reportedly sought shelter in a secure underground location as Iranian missiles targeted multiple sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israeli media, citing unnamed sources, revealed that the prime minister had been moved to this facility following a widespread Iranian missile barrage.
The missile strikes occurred around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, just days after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his associates in an Israeli airstrike in southern Beirut.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) confirmed that the missile assault was a retaliatory response to the killings of Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan.
Haniyeh had been targeted earlier in an Israeli strike on his residence in Tehran on August 1, following his attendance at President Masoud Pezeshkian’s inauguration.
Netanyahu has reportedly directed his ministers to remain in hiding as the missile attacks continue. Early reports from Israeli sources suggest significant damage to military installations, though casualty figures remain unconfirmed.
