Iran’s intelligence apparatus arrested 26 individuals accused of cooperating with Israel, according to state media outlet Fars News Agency, just days after Iran and Israel declared a ceasefire.
On Wednesday, Fars News Agency reported that the Intelligence Organization of the Hazrat Vali Asr Corps had arrested these operatives and manipulated participants involved in the recent war imposed by the Zionist regime.
“Many of them have admitted their activities, such as anti-security operations, dissemination of public panic, and acts of sabotage,” it continued, quoting a statement by the group.
The arrest was after Israel’s military chief said on Wednesday that its commandos had acted covertly within Iran throughout the 12-day war between the two nations, as its spy chief also praised the help of US intelligence.
We gained complete mastery of Iranian skies and in all those places where we decided to act,” Israeli chief of staff Eyal Zamir had told a television audience.
“This was possible due to, inter alia, coordination and tactical misdirection conducted by our air force and ground commando units,” he continued.
“The troops worked in stealth deep in the adversary’s territory and established operational freedom of action for us.
Iran announced Wednesday that it had executed three men charged with spying for Israel.
Tehran annually announces the arrest and execution of agents suspected of spying on behalf of foreign intelligence agencies, including its arch-nemesis Israel.
Both nations have declared victory in the war following a ceasefire coming into effect on Tuesday.
