Iran rules out truce, pledges swift action against Israeli violations

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied reports of truce talks with Israel, stating the country ceased its retaliatory actions only after Israel unilaterally halted aggression “out of desperation” without conditions.

Araghchi vehemently denied in a lengthy televised interview that Tehran had held ceasefire negotiations during the recent 12-day conflict, which broke out on June 13.

He claimed that Iran had made it plain that it would only end military activities if Israel ceased all of its attacks, a demand that Tel Aviv eventually agreed to.

The Zionist government asked that our retaliatory actions stop. The Iranian FM stated that Tehran only agreed to stop its strikes after making sure there were no conditions attached.

“They realized they could no longer sustain the damage,” he said. We didn’t engage in any talks for a truce. He stated, “Ceasefire is the result of dialogue—we held none.”

Echoing recent remarks by Iran’s top military leadership, including Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and IRGC chief Major General Mohammad Pakpour, Araghchi threatened that any future Israeli violation would be met with a prompt and decisive response.

Citing the regime’s track record in Gaza and Lebanon, the foreign minister voiced doubts about Israel’s commitment to peace.

“They frequently declare a truce only to break it later, thinking the other side is weak,” he said. “Lebanon is not Iran. Any violation will be met with force.
