Iranian state television announced that army air defence forces has downed advanced Hermes drone in central Isfahan.
Before the drone could fire any weapons, it was shot down at around 5:00 am local time (02:30 BST), according to a correspondent on the scene.
According to him, the incident demonstrates how effective Iran’s early detection and rapid response systems are.
The Hermes drone, which is thought to have been Israeli in origin, was totally destroyed during the interception, leaving debris all over the place.
According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, Iran has fired hundreds of drones and more than 400 missiles at Israel since last Friday.
The most recent Iranian missile barrages during the night have caused some damage, but no fatalities or injuries have been reported in Israel.
Although many projectiles were intercepted over Tel Aviv and other major cities by air defense batteries, attacks still occurred at about 40 locations throughout the nation.
The tax authority has received close to 19,000 damage claims.
More than 3,800 Israelis have been forced from their homes, and 24 people have been killed and over 800 injured so far.
According to Iranian officials, since the exchanges started, at least 224 people have lost their lives.
