Iran should soon reveal sensitive Israeli documents received by them, said Minister of Intelligence Esmail Khatib on Sunday in state TV, calling them a “treasure trove” that would bolster Iran’s offensive power.
Iranian state media on Saturday reported Iranian intelligence bodies having received a vast collection of sensitive Israeli documents.
Khatib added that they involved Israel’s nuclear sites and its relations with America, Europe, and other nations, and to its weapons of defense.
It was not certain if the data leak was associated with reported hacking of an Israeli nuclear research facility last year, which Tehran only announced now amid heightened tensions regarding its nuclear program.
“The movement of this treasure trove was painstaking and had security protocols. Khatib explained that they will keep the method of transfer secret but will reveal the documents soon. He added that claiming possession of thousands of documents would not be an exaggeration.”
In 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted that Israeli agents had confiscated a massive “archive” of Iranian records indicating that Tehran had conducted more nuclear activity than previously appreciated.
United States President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iran if Tehran did not agree with Washington over its nuclear program.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated on Wednesday that giving up uranium enrichment was “100 per cent” not in Iran’s interests, rejecting a key US requirement in negotiations to solve a long-standing dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program.
Western powers assert that Iran is enriching uranium to a high level of fissile purity near that fit for atomic bomb fuel. Iran has for long proclaimed that it does not aim at nuclear weapons.
