Turkish President Erdogan has expressed confidence in Iran’s victory amid escalating Israel tensions, denouncing Netanyahu as a threat to regional stability.
At an emergency Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Istanbul on Saturday, Erdogan compared Israel’s current actions to those of Nazi Germany under Hitler and warned that Tel Aviv’s policies are destroying the region and the world.
“Just as Hitler’s spark ignited the world 90 years ago, Netanyahu’s Zionist ambitions serve no purpose other than dragging the world into disaster,” Erdogan said, adding that he was confident Iran would prevail.
Erdogan also criticized Israel’s protracted military campaign in Gaza, which is currently in its 21st month.
He charged that Israeli forces weaponized hunger and routinely targeted civilians, including children.
Under circumstances worse than even the Nazi concentration camps, two million of our brothers and sisters in Gaza have been attempting to survive, he said.
He claimed that Israel is actively trying to broaden the conflict’s focus to include the entire region. Erdogan said, “Israel wants to burn the whole region.”
“The largest threat to regional peace and stability is the Israeli Prime Minister’s administration.”
The “market of atrocities has heated up there as well,” he added, referring to Israeli operations in the West Bank.
He criticized the lack of action by the international community and called on both Muslim and world powers to act quickly to stop the violence.
