Ten Pakistani nationals held captive by a human smuggling syndicate in Iran were recently freed in a successful operation carried out by Iranian law enforcement.
The group had reportedly been misled with false assurances of being taken to Europe through unauthorized means.
Pakistani Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, commended the Iranian authorities for their decisive action, emphasizing that the rescue came just in time to prevent a much graver outcome for the victims and their families.
“This incident highlights the harsh reality of human trafficking and the emotional and physical torment it inflicts,” the ambassador said. “Iran’s intervention was not only prompt but lifesaving.”
The Pakistani diplomatic mission in Tehran has since taken responsibility for the rescued citizens.
The embassy is providing essential services including food, shelter, and healthcare while also working on arrangements to ensure their safe return home.
According to Ambassador Tipu, those rescued shared distressing experiences of abuse and psychological trauma.
Iranian police have detained individuals suspected of orchestrating the trafficking operation.
Issuing a heartfelt warning, the ambassador urged Pakistani citizens to avoid trusting agents who promise overseas employment or migration through unregulated paths.
He underscored the grave risks involved, stressing the importance of using legal avenues when seeking opportunities abroad.
