On Sunday Iranian military chief telephoned Field Marshal General Asim Munir to thank Pakistan over its support recently when Iran escalated conflicts with Israel and the US.
Iranian media reported that, in a telephone conversation on Sunday (June 26) with Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Chairman of the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, General Mousavi praised the solidarity of Islamabad and observed continued cooperation regarding the defense after the ceasefire declared on June 24.
Terming the war as an act of unprovoked aggression, the Iranian command maintained that the United States were heavily involved well beyond providing political support to Israel but also actually engaging in military activities as seen by the cooperation in the June 22 strike on the three Iranian nuclear facilities of Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.
He observed that other Western nations even offered to support the Israeli campaign in ways that included provision of arms as well as other sources of assistance.
The military retaliation inflicted losses on Iran initially but unlike the enemy it has shaken up their plans and Iran could make them request a ceasefire, General Mousavi said.
The fight began on June 13, before planned nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., and escalated quickly into a broader regional piece.
Chairing cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif talked about the regional developments and welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, saying that it is an important step in preventing further escalation and loss.
He appreciated God over the peaceful solution and admitted that other countries, among them Saudi Arabia, had a significant part to play in the achievement of the ceasefire.
