IRGC threatens US bases, calls them "Greatest Vulnerability"

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed “devastating retaliation” against the US, denouncing the strike on Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites as an “unprecedented and blatant act of aggression,” and alleging Washington’s complicity with Israel in regional destabilization.

The IRGC claimed in a forceful statement released on Sunday that the US military attack on nuclear plants in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan was a “blatant violation” of international law, including the UN Charter, the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and Iran’s sovereign rights.

The assault, which US President Donald Trump had previously announced on social media, was a major escalation of the already tense relations between the two nations.

The attacks were directed at three Iranian nuclear facilities that Tehran claims were fully supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The strike, which was carried out in coordination with the Israeli government, was denounced by the IRGC as a “criminal act” meant to impede Iran’s scientific advancement.

According to the statement, “this action is a clear violation of the UN Charter, international law, the NPT treaty, and the fundamental principles of respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The Revolutionary Guard claimed that the “number, dispersion, and scale” of US bases in the area do not project power but rather constitute “a major vulnerability” that could be taken advantage of. This was in reference to the significant American military presence in the area.

“Washington has put itself right at the forefront of aggression by targeting peaceful installations, rather than reevaluating its strategic failures.”

The Iranian military has “monitored and identified” the departure points of US aircraft involved in the attack, according to the IRGC, which also claims that these US bases are currently being continuously monitored.
