Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to visit Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, from May 29 to 30.
During this visit DPM will attend the signing ceremony of the Convention establishing the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).
According to a press release from the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar will officially sign the IOMed Convention and deliver a speech at the ceremony on May 30. He is also scheduled to engage in multiple bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.
Pakistan is among the founding members of IOMed and has consistently supported the organization’s mission. The country recognizes the value of mediation in resolving conflicts and promoting the peaceful settlement of international disputes.
In a separate update Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar Oglu on Wednesday in Lachin, Azerbaijan.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two leaders discussed issues of mutual concern, regional security developments, and strategies to deepen defence collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Field Marshal Munir commended the strong and friendly relations shared by the two nations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to boosting military ties with Azerbaijan.
The army chief is accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his official visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit.
Other members of the high-level Pakistani delegation include Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
