Islamabad issues traffic plan for Muharram procession
TwitterFacebook

In light of the 6th Muharram procession scheduled for today, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have rolled out a dedicated traffic plan for Muharram in Islamabad to ensure public convenience and road safety.

According to traffic officials, the religious procession will start from Street 22 in Sector I-9 and will culminate at Imambargah Jafriya located in I-9/1. To facilitate the event and manage vehicular movement, authorities have announced a complete closure of the service road adjacent to I-9/1 for all types of traffic during the procession hours.

The ITP has advised commuters to avoid the affected routes and instead opt for alternate pathways like IJP Road and Warsak Road near I-9 Markaz to minimize travel disruptions.

Moreover, Street No. 18 and the service road near Imambargah in I-9/1 will also remain inaccessible for vehicles until the procession concludes.

To help maintain a steady traffic flow, residents are encouraged to use alternative routes such as Mangal Bazaar I-9 and the IJP Principal Road.

Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider has called on citizens to strictly avoid illegal parking along the procession route. He emphasized that all vehicles must be parked only in officially designated parking zones to prevent traffic congestion.

The ITP further urged the public to cooperate with on-duty officers and stay updated through traffic advisories issued via official channels.
