The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a 100% hike in metro and electric bus fares in Islamabad, set to take effect on May 26.

The one-way fare for all metro and electric buses has increased from Rs 50 to Rs 100, according to government sources.

Additionally, buses operating under CDA control now have a Rs 100 stop-to-stop fare.

With 17 routes around Islamabad, the metro and electric feeder bus services serve more than 90,000 passengers per day.

It is anticipated that the fee increase will have a major effect on these travelers’ daily commute.

Yango Ride, the global ride-hailing company and subsidiary of global tech firm Yango Group, has launched a fleet of electric rickshaws in Lahore, a significant milestone in its drive for sustainable city transport.

This launch, driven by a strategic tie-up with Wasl Mobility Modaraba, brings with it a cleaner, quieter option to the usual rickshaw, one that is kinder to the planet and to the daily commuter.

Electric rickshaws are a crucial means of curbing urban pollution and noise, particularly in highly concentrated cities like Lahore, where traditional rickshaws contribute significantly to carbon footprints.

Yango’s new EV fleet is meant to provide a smoother, more dependable, and cheaper trip for riders while providing new income sources for local drivers.

“The introduction of electric rickshaws, designed by the gifted artist Umair Najeeb, is an eye-catching landmark on our path to providing Pakistan with contemporary, eco-friendly mobility solutions. It is yet another step in our quest to promote new ride choice as well as towards creating a cleaner, smarter future for urban transport.”
