Iran stated on Friday that the negotiations with America regarding Tehran’s nuclear program are “meaningless” following Israel’s largest-ever air strike on its long-time foe, blaming Washington for backing the attack.
The other party (the U.S.) moved in a manner that renders dialogue useless. You cannot say you negotiate and at the same time divide work by giving the Zionist regime (Israel) an excuse to hit Iran’s soil,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
He told Israel “Managed to impose itself” on the diplomatic process and the Israeli attack would not have taken place without Washington’s acquiescence.
Iran previously accused the U.S. of complicity in Israel’s attacks, but Washington rejected the claim and informed Tehran at the United Nations Security Council that it would be “wise” to reach an agreement on its nuclear programme.
Sunday in Muscat, but it was uncertain whether it would proceed following the Israeli attacks.
Iran insists that its uranium enrichment program is for anything but military use, discounting Israeli accusations that it is covertly building nuclear weapons.
U.S. President Donald Trump informed Reuters that he and his representatives had known the Israeli strikes were imminent, but they still believed there was room for an agreement.
Earlier, Israeli accusations that Tehran deployed drones toward Israel on Friday have been refuted by Iran’s Fars news agency.
Iran has not carried out any drone strikes on Israel, the news agency said, quoting a security source. Iran’s retaliation, the source continued, “will take place in the near future.”
Officials did not provide any further information about the type or timing of possible future actions, and this statement coincides with the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.
