Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that the Israeli military has been given the green light to strike targets in Tehran as Iran has violated the current ceasefire agreement.
In an official statement, Katz said that the Israeli army has been instructed to respond with full force as Iran breached the ceasefire terms.
He emphasized that any violation of the truce would result in direct strikes on central Tehran.
Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) accused Iran of firing a missile after the ceasefire had already come into effect. According to the Israeli military, a missile was launched from Iran, triggering sirens in northern regions of Israel.
An IDF spokesperson urged the public to remain in safe shelters until further notice, adding that Israel’s defense systems are fully operational to counter any threats.
“The ceasefire officially began this morning,” said the spokesperson, “but the Israeli military remains on high alert.”
He further stated that the Israeli Air Force is fully prepared to eliminate any incoming threats, and there has been no change in public safety restrictions, as the risk of escalation continues.
Earlier in the day, Israel had officially accepted a U.S.-brokered ceasefire proposal, and Iranian media had confirmed that Iran had begun complying with the ceasefire agreement.
According to Netanyahu’s office statement, the prime minister accepted the truce because he had completed all of the war’s objectives in Israel.
The State of Israel achieved huge historic victories during Operation Rising Lion and positioned itself among the world’s most powerful nations, according to the statement.
The Israeli government has already agreed to a cease-fire with Iran, claiming that the goals of its military operation, Operation Rising Lion, have been met satisfactorily.
