Dr. Seyed Isar Tabatabaei Qomsheh and his wife assassinated in Tehran in the latest Israeli strike on Saturday, taking death toll of Iranian nuclear scientists targeted by Israel to 10.
One of the foremost authorities on reactor physics was Dr. Tabatabaei, a well-known physicist connected to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.
Early in the morning, a targeted attack at his private home is said to have killed him and his spouse. Although Iranian authorities have confirmed both deaths, they have not publicly revealed the attack’s method.
This latest murder follows a coordinated Israeli operation known as “Operation Narnia,” which earlier this week killed nine senior Iranian nuclear scientists at their homes in unison.
The strike was executed with what Israeli officials have ambiguously described as a “classified” or “special” weapon, according to sources quoted in Iranian state-affiliated media.
The broader initiative is a component of Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion.” It appears to be comparable to Mohsen Fakhrizadeh’s assassination in 2020. Iran’s top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was killed in a remote-controlled ambush outside of Tehran. Israeli intelligence services were largely held responsible for the assassination.
Senior Israeli security officials have hinted that the strikes were intended to “disrupt Iran’s irreversible nuclear progress” in interviews with international media on condition of anonymity, despite the fact that Israel has not officially confirmed the strikes.
Additionally, they asserted that the targeted individuals were engaged in delicate projects that presented a “direct threat” to the security of Israel.
